I encourage you to start setting aside toiletry and essential items, such as 30% DEET insect repellent (travel size), sunscreen, a hat, your passport, the itinerary, cash for your visa, the hotel info, your shot record, your emergency contact list, etc. so that you're not scrambling to locate these things days before your flight. Waiting until the last minute greatly increases your chances of forgetting things you really need.
Plan to leave expensive jewelry, electronics and gear at home. Bring these at your own risk, knowing that you will be on a build site all day and your items may be unattended as you work. They could possibly be stolen or damaged.
Try to pack light. This will make for a better travel experience for you. We typically have access to laundry facilities, so you can quite possibly bring everything you need as carry on items and wash your clothes in the middle of the week. I've seen it done!
Google and Pinterest are great resources for helpful graphics and articles on packing for international travel. Check them out to help save on time, money and luggage space.
