Photo from habitat.org Learn and Build Experience trips are open to individuals ages 16 to18. The $550 program fee includes all meals, except for lunch on days of arrival and departure, lodging during the trip, a Learn and Build Experience T-shirt, a donation to the host affiliate, and curriculum materials. The $550 trip costs do NOT include travel costs, such as airfare, to and from the project location and the participant’s home. The Learn and Build Experience offers scholarships ranging from full-trip costs to partial trip costs. All applicants are encouraged to apply for scholarships, but awards will be given to participants showing financial need. Remember the power of fundraising, too! You can ask people to sponsor you, plan a fundraising event or even collect change from classmates. Applications for the 2014 Learn and Build Experience are open through Feb. 28. Those chosen to move forward in the selection process will be asked to complete a second application that includes scholarship information and scheduling a phone interview. All applicants will be notified by April 1 of his or her application status.
