Staff and volunteers, including past and current members of Habitat’s international board of directors, raised the walls of Lawanda Phillips’ house in the Atlanta neighborhood Verbena Place, where ultimately 52 houses will sit.
Spurred by the conviction that affordable housing helps break the cycle of poverty, Habitat is on track to reach a new milestone of 1 million families served through new home construction, home renovation or critical home repair by the end of 2015, and to put millions more families on the path to improved shelter.
